Tell us about your business and your Yelp page
A verified-customer Yelp review program is a policy-safe way to grow Yelp reviews without buying or requesting them. Because Yelp asks businesses not to solicit reviews, the program focuses on verified customers' experience, a complete and current Yelp page, and professional replies to every review, so customers choose to share feedback on their own.
How it works
How a Yelp page program runs without review requests
Verification is based on a completed purchase, meal, appointment, or completed service. Customers write their own feedback and choose their own rating.
Connect your customer records
Import completed purchases, meals, appointments, or services from your POS, CRM, booking tool, or invoice history.
Approve the follow-up
We prepare a neutral post-service feedback message that does not ask for a Yelp review, in line with Yelp's guidelines.
Optimize your Yelp page
Complete hours, categories, services, and photos so your page answers customers' questions before they call or visit.
Monitor and respond
Track new Yelp reviews, publish approved public replies, and use feedback to improve the customer experience.

Verification
Yelp work starts from customers you actually served
Follow-ups go to real customers only, collect private feedback, and never ask for a Yelp review.
Verified customer activity
Feedback follow-ups go only to customers with a completed purchase, meal, appointment, or service in your records.
No Yelp review requests
Follow-up messages ask about the experience privately and never mention or link to Yelp, as Yelp's guidelines require.
Monitoring and responses
Track new Yelp reviews, draft calm public replies for your approval, and report on page completeness and activity.

Yelp page guide
Yelp without review requests: page quality, replies, and monitoring
Yelp asks businesses not to solicit reviews. Here is what owners can do instead, and how Yelp decides which reviews it shows.
Why Yelp is different from other review sites
Yelp's support article Don't Ask for Reviews asks businesses not to solicit reviews from customers, whether by email, in person, on signs, or through review-request services. Yelp's position is that reviews are most useful when people write them on their own initiative. Its Content Guidelines also forbid reviews from owners, employees, and anyone paid or rewarded to write them.
That rule shapes every Yelp program we run. We never ask your customers to review you on Yelp. The work concentrates on the parts of Yelp that owners control: an accurate and complete page, timely replies, private customer feedback that is not linked to Yelp, and close monitoring of what is published.
What Yelp owners can and cannot do
| Action | Allowed on Yelp? | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Showing a Find us on Yelp badge or window sticker | Yes | It tells people you are on Yelp without asking for a review. |
| Emailing customers to ask for a Yelp review | No | Yelp asks businesses not to solicit reviews. |
| Replying publicly or privately to reviewers | Yes | Done from a free Yelp for Business account. |
| Offering a discount or gift in exchange for a review | No | Compensated reviews breach the Content Guidelines. |
| Reporting a review that breaks the guidelines | Yes | Yelp's moderators decide; disagreement alone is not grounds. |
Keeping a Yelp page complete and accurate
- 1Claim the page with a free Yelp for Business account and verify ownership.
- 2Confirm the name, address or service area, phone number, and website.
- 3Set regular hours and add special hours before holidays and closures.
- 4Write a specialties and history section that describes what you actually offer.
- 5Upload recent photos of the premises, team, and real products or work.
- 6Turn on notifications so new reviews and messages reach a named person.
Recommendation software and Consumer Alerts
Yelp's recommendation software decides which reviews appear in the main feed. It weighs quality, reliability, and the reviewer's activity on Yelp, and reviews it does not recommend sit behind a separate link and do not count toward the star rating. The software reassesses reviews over time, as explained in Recommended Reviews, and no one can pay to change the outcome.
When Yelp finds evidence of attempts to manipulate reviews, such as offers of payment for reviews, it can place a Consumer Alert on the business page for a period of time. This is the main reason buying or soliciting Yelp reviews works against the business that tries it.

FAQ
Yelp review campaign FAQ
Answers about Yelp's review rules and how a verified-customer campaign works on the platform.
Can I ask customers for Yelp reviews?
Yelp asks businesses not to solicit reviews, including through emails, signs, or direct requests to review them on Yelp, and its software can recommend fewer reviews when it detects solicitation. You can show that you are on Yelp, but our Yelp workflow focuses on your page, replies, and customer experience rather than review requests.
Why not buy Yelp reviews?
Yelp's recommendation software filters suspicious reviews, and Yelp places Consumer Alerts on business pages when it finds evidence of paid or compensated reviews. In the United States, buying reviews also violates the FTC rule on fake reviews. A purchased review is likely to be hidden and can damage trust in your page.
What does a Yelp program include if you do not send review requests?
We help you keep your Yelp page complete with accurate hours, photos, and services, reply publicly to existing reviews, and run private customer-feedback surveys that are not tied to Yelp. Strong service and an active, accurate page are what customers see when they compare businesses on Yelp.
Why are some of my Yelp reviews marked as not recommended?
Yelp's automated recommendation software shows only part of its reviews in the main feed, based on quality, reliability, and the reviewer's activity on Yelp. Reviews from new or inactive accounts are more often placed in the not recommended section. Businesses cannot pay to change this, and the software re-evaluates reviews over time.
Should I respond to Yelp reviews?
Yes. Business owners can reply publicly or send a private message from their Yelp for Business account. Keep public replies short, factual, and polite, and never share customer details. Thoughtful responses show future customers that you take feedback seriously, especially when the original review is negative or describes a specific problem.
